CODE OF
CONDUCT
The ByTown Cup’s Code of Conduct is short and to-the-point, but we do ask that all those interested in participating please read it and take a minute to seriously consider these policies.
The number one goal for this tournament is to foster a positive environment for anyone and everyone who wants to play, no matter who they are, love, or what they look like.
1.
The ByTown Cup is a welcoming space for all walks of life and has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy regarding any and all hate, discrimination, harassment, bullying, violence, and/ or any otherwise negative behaviour. This includes, but is not limited to, locker room talk, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic and ableist language, and criticism of teammates, opponents, officials and arena staff.
2.
Everyone is here to have a good time, and all levels of skill are welcome at this event. We encourage a pass-first mindset — share the puck, and give those who might need it a little more time and space. In other words, don’t be a hot dog.
3.
Lastly, this is still a hockey tournament, and It’s ok to try and win (after all, the coveted ByTown Cup is one of the most prestigious trophies in all of Ottawa Sports), but winning is secondary to ensuring everyone leaves the tournament feeling good, having had a great weekend and looking forward to the next one!
If any of these points might pose an issue for you, this tournament is likely not for you.
